Well, here it is. The last week of genius hour and we are nowhere near the original goal of $500. Good thing we changed that to $250 right. Well we've ended up with $234 after buying three pairs of shoes with the previous amount of money I had then selling them over the course of last week and this week. Honestly, I'm pretty content with my earnings and if I could do it all over again the only thing I would change is the dedication I had to this project. Me and Jack plan on making a slideshow of all the items we've bought, sold, and traded throughout this project. Thanks for tuning in!!

Last week I purchased 2 Nike hoodies and 2 pairs of shoes and this took up all my money to purchase. This means that I am all in and there is no going back from this point on. I mean I could always return the item but that would set me back too much time. So far I've sold the two pairs off shoes but I have not sold the hoodies yet. They do not have any bids yet so it's not looking too great right now but they have been viewed by five people so at least people know it's on the market. If I sell all the items I have then I will be at $185.
I sold the three pairs of shoes from last week so after that I have a total of $159. This means that I am ahead of schedule but that also means I have to make almost $100 of profit in over the next two weeks.. yeah that doesn't sound very easy to do but with some hard work and good tactics, I should be able to get at least near my goal of $250. I plan on keeping the same tactic as selling and buying items on eBay.
I've sold two of the three shoes and now my current total is $107 dollars so if I sell the other shoe for at least $50 then I should be ahead of the plan. The third shoe still has a few days left on the market but there's already a bid on it for at least $50 so I should hit my goal. Although we do hope that we can gather a little bit more money than planned because we are so close to the end of this genius hour project.
I've sold the shoes for $62 so I didn't exactly meet my goal but I do now have a total of $112 which is better than $95. I now know I made a mistake by not utilizing the other $50 dollars I had so now that $50 dollars has not made me any profit. I plan on using all of my money to buy about 3 pairs of shoes and sell them for $50 each. If this works as planned I will have $150.
Since my tactic is to now buy and sell items on eBay, I am now going to use $45 of my $95 to buy a some shoes from Marshalls and to now try and sell them off my eBay account for about $60 or $70 dollars. I will probably list the starting price of the itemat $60 dollars and the buy it now price at $75. I will put the time deadline for about a week and some days in order to give it enough time for people to view it but not too much time because I would like to see at least a little activity within a short amount of time. I also picked this price because I did not think it was too expensive to not be bought by anyone. If this all works out then I should have a total of $120 if I sold them for $70. I still haven't decided what to do with the other $50.
.This is the week of change. The week of realization. This week me and Jack have come to the realization that we will most likely not reach our goal judging by the current progress that we're at. We've decided that cutting the goal in half (Total-$500/$250 each) would be a suitable amount considering how much time we have left. My total for this week is $95 after receiving a $20 dollar donation from my mother. She realized that I was really in trouble and she thought the little boost would get me on track. My new tactic for the next few weeks is to buy and sell items off my eBay account
Spring Break, finally. This week I traveled all up the east coast touring different colleges such as Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, William and Mary, UVA, Davidson, and ECU. By far my favorite was Georgetown University but the only downside of the campus was the chaotic traffic near the school due to all the tourists attractions in Washington D.C. making it almost impossible to drive so I had to Uber everywhere. Let's start with my first stop, William and Mary in Virginia. walking around W&M all day I did not see as many students out walking around the campus so my plan of asking one of the students wasn't looking too good. My next idea on how to make a transaction was to ask one of the people in my tour group while we were out patrolling the campus... So it turns out when people are tired, hungry, and deciding what college they will spend 4 years of their life at they most likely will not be in the mood to make a transaction with a complete stranger for a school project. The next few days I visited Georgetown and Johns Hopkins and there was no success there so we'll just move on. Finally, we reach UVA after a very long car drive and thank the Lord this kid who odd enough lived in Washington D.C. agreed to buy one of my CD's.. I didn't get a video of this encounter because I wasn't sure about consent reasons. I did not make any transactions at Davidson but when we reached ECU I tried to sell another one of my CD's. Well long story short I sold one of my CD's to one of my family members I ate dinner with that evening. well that's $10 dollars more in the tank so now we are at $60. Stay tuned to see if I can actually meet my quota for this point on the 12 week process of Genius Hour.
This week I tried a strategy that isn't really the first thing you’d think of when trying to make a profit from only $4 dollars. This strategy is sort of a knock off of something that Ryan Trahan attempted when he was a little further into his own version of the penny to 1000 challenge. When Ryan had about $20 dollars accumulated, he used 5 of those twenty dollars to buy paper then used that paper to sketch about 20 drawings. He took those drawings and sold them to multiple friends for about a dollar each. Doing this he obtained $20 dollars only by starting off with $5. I was planning on buying about 10 CD’s and making a short 5 or 10 song album with short mixtapes on then to sell for $5 dollars each to my friends (outside of school of course). I already have 10 mixtapes recorded that I made just for laughs and I plan on burning them on to disc then selling them to my friends. Hopefully my friends will comply with the transaction based purely off the kindness of their heart because I am not planning on telling them it’s for my genius hour project. This week, just like the last, can either move in a positive direction or maybe even backwards. Who knows, this could be the startup of the next Drake. Probably not. Anyways thanks for reading guys, stay tuned for next week's progress and new items!!
This week, as usual, I waited until basically the last moment to work on my genius hour project. It was actually a Saturday instead of a sunday this time believe it or not. I was on my way to Sheetz in Bermuda Run and I as usual, genius hour was the last thing on my mind. Parker Prysiazniuk actually had the idea to ask Jase Proctor (Who I did not know would also be at Sheetz) if he would like to trade whatever I had gathered from the previous week when I worked on my genius hour project. At the time I didn’t have the $4 dollars on me and apparently I had forgotten I had acquired those $4 dollars. Long story short, I traded Jase a penny for a twix candy bar. Honestly, not the best move looking back at it but I can almost guarantee could trade the twix for a dollar. After thinking about what I had done and what was my next move, I decided that I would just keep the $4 dollars from the previous week and move on to the next week instead of moving in the wrong direction. Leave some comments down below if you have any suggestions on how I should try next to earn at least double my money!!
